ABOUT ME

BEHIND THE LENS

There is freedom in art.  There are no set rules or guidelines as to what is appropriate and what isn’t.  Whenever there is an attempt to impose restrictions on art, there is a greater attempt to make an entire genre for it.  It simply exists.  It can inspire someone while disgusting another at the same time.  It can highlight beauty in the most glorious way.  It can shadow beauty in the most vilified way.  I find this freedom comfortable and intriguing. I enjoy capturing images that will give the viewers an emotional reaction.  Usually that entails a pleasurable emotion from a great photo shoot, but every now and then I let the artist in me take over.  When I’m not doing portraits, weddings, or something similar for a client, I am out in the world taking pictures of nature or trying to produce some art that adds shock value to our culture.  I believe art should often push the boundaries of our comfort, for that is how we learn and grow as individuals. After the lens detaches and the photos are edited, I rejoin my family.  Family is a huge thing for me.  My husband and I have two little ones who inspire us more and more every day.  On the days the world holds no inspiration for the artist, my family fills the voids and fulfills that warm feeling quota.
